Out of School Time Network

Empowering Out of School Time Providers with Real Time Data

Summit Education Initiative’s Out of School Time Network is a group of Summit County organizations that either lead or coordinate Out of School Time Programs and activities for students K-12 beyond school hours and help provide the community students with extended learning opportunities. The OST Network works together to move from conversations to actions through quarterly meetings, Collaborative Action Teams and guided discussions.

Through the OST Network, organizations are able to access cloud-based, live student data, measure student perceptions and attitudes through the YouthView OST Surveys.

OST Portal

The Out of School Time Dashboards provide a secure platform where the after-school programs (or Out of School Time – OST Partners) manage programs and participants and access student-level academic and behavioral data from participating Summit County Schools after families have authorized data sharing with the OST organizations. The Out of School Time (OST) Portal helps OSTs coordinate and illustrate their differences in students’ lives. This process not only relieves OSTs of extra work and time they could spend interacting more with students, but it also allows these organizations to track and report concrete outcomes to funders.

YouthView Out of School Time (OST) Program Survey

YouthView OST is a social-emotional survey developed by Summit Education Initiative.  YouthView OST began in 2012.  Our goal was to contribute something other than grades and test scores to conversations about youth development.  We also wanted to create a solution for Out of School Time Providers that could drive positive action at the student, program and OST Organization levels.

After several field tests and revisions, we validated the YouthView as a survey instrument in 2014.  This survey has been administered to over 14,500 students over the years. The YouthView OST Survey is program-specific. The results are anonymous and aggregated at the program level.

Testimonials

“SEI is ensuring a path for OST organizations who are a part of the OST Network to look at student-level data through the OST Network Portal. This portal connects them with real-time aggregate data due to near-daily data uploads. It has allowed the partners to start looking at the data and better understanding it. Interactive custom dashboards will allow our partners to begin analyzing and acting on the data.”
