As the backbone organization in education, the mission of Summit Education Initiative is to improve personal and regional prosperity through increased educational attainment. This mission statement also implies a data-driven objective to provide substantial assistance to empower our Out School Time (OST) providers and their families. This career pathway starts from birth (or even prenatal life) and spans through school to a thriving career and beyond.

We have a lot of data available around SEI’s transition points, but the question is, are we overloaded with it? Our OST partners faced the challenge of turning these data into action to drive student success. The OST Network student portal and students’ perceptions and attitudes reporting through YouthView Surveys create actionable information for our partners to have the tools to tailor their services to the students. The simplified, secure FERPA compliant way, enables the OST providers to get all their actionable student information needs seamlessly while focusing on a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for their students through quality programming.

FAQs

Who can join the OST Network?

Summit Education Initiative (SEI) welcomes any nonprofit, government, community group, family or faith-based Out of School Time (OST) provider in the Summit County to be a part of the Out of School Time (OST) Collaborative Action Network (CAN). We provide three different supports to programs working directly with students – direct access to educational outcomes, small-scale program evaluations, and student perceptions & social-emotional surveys. As a small organization, we are limited in the scope of supports we can offer free of charge to our partners.  This guide is intended to help you determine whether your program is a good fit for a partnership with SEI.

How can I administer the YouthView Survey?

The Youth View® OST (Out of School Time) is an anonymous, survey comprising 16 items designed to provide actionable information about student perceptions and motivation. The survey provides meaningful, program-level and site-level information to support OST Programs. Your students need to take the surveys online. Please visit the YouthView OST Survey page or contact Piya Chatterjee for more information.
